Kevin Jones

 

Kevin Jones is an independent consultant and a member of the Collective Impact team.  Kevin has experience in facilitation, training, grant and volunteer management, event planning, fundraising, program and community assessment, and fostering community relationships. Kevin has worked to strengthen nonprofit organizations by developing workshops and other learning opportunities that serve the nonprofit sector. He brings a diverse range of experience working with disadvantaged youth, adults, and seniors, including homeless, emancipated youth, and special-needs populations. In his roles as a facilitator, social worker, training specialist and educator, Kevin is able to build cooperative working relationships with various interdisciplinary teams with organized effective skills in problem solving, assessment, and negotiation.

Through his work with the West Virginia State University Metro Area on Aging, Kevin implemented a statewide volunteer program and facilitated the partnership of 42 county aging providers to recruit, host and train local volunteers. He identified current volunteer engagement practices and leadership considerations to prioritize volunteer development. Kevin assisted in executing a corporate Human Resource pilot program for Sears Holdings in West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee emphasizing the importance of culture as an interlocking set of goals, roles, processes, values and communications practices to align management with the corporate mission. He developed engaging training programs to enhance the learning and development of associates with performance metrics, coaching, recognition and leadership initiatives. While at Mission West Virginia, Inc., he also provided public health education services to youth in group homes, juvenile detention centers and public schools with service activities and curriculum focused on adult preparation promoting healthy relationships, life skills and education.

Kevin actively volunteers with the Young Bankers Club, a financial literacy program that teaches youth about the importance of education, finances and personal responsibility. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Religious Coalition for Community Renewal (RCCR), an affordable housing nonprofit, to govern strategically and effectively. In his board roles as the Lay Vice President and Fundraising and Marketing Committee Chair, he has integrated and aligned RCCR’s social media platforms with strategic goals to target and engage stakeholders.

Kevin has a MA in Leadership Studies with an emphasis in Nonprofit and Government Agency Leadership, a BSW in Social Work, and BA in Education from Marshall University. While earning his BSW he founded and served as the president of the Marshall University Student Social Work Organization. Through Collective Impact, Kevin received certification as an Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor. He is well-informed on common mental health and substance abuse challenges for youth and adults and how to help people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
